Western Society of Naturalists
Abstracts due: Aug 2018- Oct 7, 2018
The Western Society of Naturalists is a scientific society with a strong focus on ecology, evolution, natural history, and marine biology. Its membership is primarily concentrated on the west coast of North America, though many members have spread far and wide. The main activity of the society is the annual meeting, held in November. This meeting is a great venue to hear exciting new biological research. The society prides itself on making the meeting accessible to students, with student membership only $5. At the meeting, it is not uncommon for half or more of the talks to be given by graduate students. Check this site for details of past or upcoming meetings. International Coral Reef Symposium
The International Society for Reef Studies (ISRS) was founded in 1980 and is the principal learned society to which reef scientists and managers from across the world belong. The principal objective of the Society is to promote the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and understanding of coral reefs. Currently these reefs are under threat globally as never before, as a result of both climate change and local impacts (see About Coral Reefs). If you work on or are interested in coral reefs you are WELCOME - please see the Membership Page, where you can join on-line.
